Chocowinity's unique plumbing challenges

About 39 nights a year below freezing, when uninsulated crawlspace lines give out

The oldest blocks in town run plumbing decades older than the newer builds toward Washington

First frost typically lands around November 19

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Why is the meter box always full of water?

A high water table keeps groundwater at or above the box depth for much of the year. The meter itself is built for it, but the water hides the register and the curb stop nut. Bailing it out is the first step before any reading or shutoff.

Does high groundwater affect a septic drain field?

It reduces the field's ability to take water, so drains slow after wet spells on low ground toward Vanceboro and Greenville. That is capacity, not a blockage in the house. A level check on the tank tells you which one you have.

What should be done before a hurricane?

Fill containers, know where the main shutoff is, and be ready to close it if a line breaks or the system loses pressure. If power goes, a well pump stops and so does any ejector. Follow the utility's advice on boiling afterwards.

Are boat lifts and dock lines a plumbing concern?

Only where a water line runs out to a dock, and those runs freeze first because they are fully exposed. Drain and isolate them before the season turns. A valve at the shore end makes that simple.
