Hoffman climate
by the numbers
Hoffman's unique plumbing challenges
About 44 nights a year below freezing, when uninsulated crawlspace lines give out
The oldest blocks in town run plumbing decades older than the newer builds toward Pinebluff
First frost typically lands around November 13
Seasonal timing
Some 63 days a year top 90F, a long hot run that leaves a sediment-loaded tank struggling to keep up by evening.

People also ask
By the pressure switch and the tank. The pump starts at a low set point and stops at a high one, and the tank's air charge smooths what happens in between. When that charge is gone the pump hammers on and off with every tap.
It usually drains well, which is why septic works out here at all. Trouble shows up when the tank hasn't been pumped and solids reach the field, and the repair for that is far larger than the pumping would have been.
On well supply it's usually bacteria or the reaction between the water and the heater's anode rod. If the smell is only on the hot side, the tank is the suspect. Homes around Ellerbe and Taylortown on similar groundwater report it too.
