Seasonal timing

Only about 26 nights a year fall below freezing and the first frost usually holds off until November 26, so pipe failures here tend to come from movement and corrosion rather than from ice.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Why do my pipes bang under the floor?

Long runs with too few straps let the pipe move when a valve slams shut. On pier-and-beam houses that noise is amplified by the open crawl. Arrestors and proper support both play a part, and a plumber will look at the whole run rather than the one joist you can hear.

Does salt air affect plumbing?

It affects everything metal that is exposed, including hose bibs, exterior shutoffs and water heater fittings in an unconditioned space. Houses near Atlantic Beach often lose an outdoor valve to corrosion long before anything inside the wall fails.

What should I do about plumbing before a storm?

Know where your main shutoff is and be able to close it, and if you evacuate, shut it off. Beyond that the real risk is what happens when service is restored to an empty house, which is when a small open joint becomes a flooded floor.

Is my water heater working harder here than inland?

Not usually harder, but it may last differently. Incoming water is warmer on the coast than in the mountains, so the burner runs less, while sediment and corrosion still set the practical life. A unit that is well past a decade near Havelock is worth watching.
