Pinetops's unique plumbing challenges

About 50 nights a year below freezing, when uninsulated crawlspace lines give out

The oldest blocks in town run plumbing decades older than the newer builds toward Macclesfield

First frost typically lands around November 16

Seasonal timing

About 50 nights a year fall below freezing, with the median first frost near November 16, enough cold to finish off an already corroded joint in an open crawlspace.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Why does old steel pipe leak at the threads?

Threading cuts into the wall of the pipe, so that is the thinnest point to begin with, and corrosion attacks it from inside. Joints are almost always where a galvanised system fails first.

Can a leaking threaded joint just be tightened?

No. Turning it further usually makes the leak worse and can break the fitting, because the metal there is already thin. The section gets cut out and replaced instead.

How long does galvanised pipe last?

It varies with water chemistry, but decades rather than a lifetime, and much of what is still in service in older houses near Princeville and Elm City is well past its expected life.

What can I do while waiting for a plumber on a leak?

Shut the water off at the main, open a low tap to drain the pressure out of the line, and keep power off anywhere water has reached. That limits the damage without anyone attempting a repair.
