The ground out toward Kinston, Elizabethtown and Whiteville is sand, the water table sits high, and any crack in a buried drain line quietly takes on sand every time groundwater rises. The line doesn't block all at once. It fills from the bottom over months until the flow slot at the top is too small for a load of laundry. So the plumber starts with a cleanout and a camera rather than a cable, because pushing steel through a sand bed just bores a hole that closes again. Jetting is usually the answer where sand is the problem, since a high pressure head scours the pipe wall and flushes the debris downstream instead of past it. After the flush, the camera goes back in to find where the sand is entering, and that location matters more than the cleaning does. A joint that has pulled apart in wet sand will keep feeding the line no matter how well it was cleaned.

For grease and sand the jetter is the better tool, because it takes the pipe back to its real diameter instead of leaving a channel through the middle of the debris.
